Who We Are

A Note from Cynthia

Stories from my grandfather, one of the first Canadians involved with the United Nations, shaped the course of my life. They give me great faith in the collective power of bringing diverse voices into one room, giving them all equal weight, and designing solutions to serve the greater good that is far superior to the ideas that just a few parties could have imagined.

Having experienced the hurdles of adjusting from one culture to another, following moves to four different continents, I’ve devoted my life to facilitating cultural integration and inclusion.  When the intercultural field was relatively new, I helped build a program to support partners of students through Harvard Business School’s International Partners Club.  My career has included work with international schools, intercultural training positions for global relocation firms, and cultural awareness and sensitivity program development for business and non-profit organizations.

Initially, when I formed The Mosaic Group, we provided cross-cultural training for American high schools that effectively prepared students and faculty to embrace incoming international students and displaced students from war-torn countries so they could feel confident in their own cultural identity while feeling included and valued in their new environment.

The mission of The Mosaic Group has expanded in the years since it was formed. In addition to cross-cultural training, The Mosaic Group provides customized organizational development and transformation services through a lens of cultural competence and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion for non-profit and faith-based organizations. My experience with churches both in the US and Canada means that I understand that exploration of intentional inclusion offers congregations opportunities for spiritual growth and enrichment.

Above all, it brings me great joy to build cohesive teams and communities where every individual is welcomed, honored, and valued. When individual  potential is optimized, organizations grow and succeed, and people have hope and are inspired to live out their mission.

Many consulting companies focus exclusively on strategy and processes; these components are critical to building the infrastructure for successful teams. Yet it is my deep belief that it is the people who breathe life into the organizations. My mission for The Mosaic Group is to listen to every unique voice, because I believe we are better together.

I welcome the opportunity to share how The Mosaic Group might help your organization make inclusion real.
