Diversity is not merely a game of numbers; it is about the larger work of structural and transformation within an organization. Difficult conversations and deep self-exploration are necessary to build a community where all members feel genuinely included.

As Principal of The Mosaic Group, Cynthia Sibold will work with your organization to facilitate this transformative process with customized programming based on established best practices and your organization’s own unique cultural values, to ensure that your community is thriving and engaged.

Inclusion Is Our Speciality

Shifting racial demographics in the United States have highlighted the importance of engaging diverse populations in all sectors.
As an Inclusion and Engagement Specialist, The Mosaic Group will guide your organization to be
the author of its own inclusion plan to and build true belonging through:

Courageous Conversations

Collaborative Discovery

Practice and Process Alignment

It’s tempting to jump straight to outreach in a diversity initiative. Yet three foundational steps are critical first: honest dialogue to identify unseen barriers to change; consensus building to create an actionable plan, and organizational analysis to build capacity to support the new initiatives. The Mosaic Group facilitates these areas using research-based tools and proven best practices, developing the organization to be a true change agent.

The critical fourth step requires more than just putting the pieces into place. Together, we will work to ensure that integration leads to a true sense of belonging for every stakeholder, ensuring lasting commitment, engagement, and success.

Overcome Resistance to Change

No one wants to believe that they have biases, but even people who are well-intentioned and support diversity in principle have them. Only a radical change to inner attitudes can overcome overt and covert resistance to change, which is often based on fear of the unknown. The first step to embracing positive change is to explore the organizational culture and individual attitudes about inclusion.

Build Capacity for Learning

Cultural transformation requires a long-term lens and an ongoing process of learning. The organization must prepare to regularly evaluate the environment in which it is functioning, be adaptable to change, and set up internal systems so that inclusion goals are sustainable, allowing the organization to fulfill its mission now and in the future.

Be Better Together

In a truly inclusive organization, the unique aspects of every individual are valued and their personal attributes are allowed to shine. Through an inquiry process grounded in positive psychology, the organization will not merely practice inclusive reinforcement; rather, it will learn how to place the value of inclusivity at the center of its beliefs and actions in a way that recognizes the unique experience of all members.

Build True Belonging

The work of inclusion is not a one-and-done project. The organization must continually ensure that every individual feels a true sense of belonging. As the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King,  Jr. said, "Our goal is to create a beloved community, and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives.” Lasting change requires continual independent assessments and moderation to ensure that everyone feels safe and heard.

“Everyone is part of the diversity picture, and through self-reflection, the individual learns to see that diversity is as much about “me” as it is about “them.”
